First Zen LX blog

Hello,

I'm a shy, nervous, struggling artist in my mid-30's writing a blog about the certain things in my life and the unique perspective I am trying to convey.  Some things that I write may be witty, smart, and funny; but sometimes it can be colder than ice.  Here are some of my witty lines:

"Sex is like getting a career: if you don't have experience in that field, there will be a few opportunities available."

"I could not get a perfect woman because she either has a boyfriend or is married."

"I am in my 30's, lacking a romantic life, but have some friend who I could rely on for support... and they say I should be like Jesus".

There will be more to come.  Enjoy.

I am so old that today's alternative rock radio is either dead or just plain shit.

From the mid-1990's to the early 2000's, alternative radio was the soundtrack to my younger years.  Here in San Diego, 91X is still the #1 alt.station for over 30 year, but now it is not relevant.  They still overplay Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, blink-182, No Doubt, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Weezer, Kings of Leon, Linkin Park, The Black Keys, Pearl Jam, etc. like it's used gum.  But they also play recent poppy crap like Kaleo, Twenty-One Pilots, Lorde, recent Coldplay, etc.  Either major radio markets play crap (like here in San Diego) or changed formats (like in Philadelphia, Dallas, and Chicago). History of my favorite defunct stations (and early years of FM 94/9) 92.5 The Flash (XHRM-FM) 1993 - 1998 In 1993, when 91X turned 10, this station made its debut.  It was run mostly by long-forgotten DJs, like Fitz, Bruce Wayne, Big Wave Dave, Randy DeWitt, Todd Kelly, Tom Perry, Bree O'Shea, John Kryvorka, M

Horny, shy, picky, naïve, and nervous: a lethal combination

It's an epic conflict between my libido and my mind.  There is a part of me that wants to have sex with anything available, but there's also a part of me that wants to pick a certain one.  I am trying to get laid, but I do have my standards.  Here is a list of things that counter my preferences: -I found a classified ad on Craigslist about a single mom who is looking for a sex buddy.  The downside is that she is five-months pregnant.  I think that she is a slut.  Pregnancy is a major turn-off for single guys. -I am not attracted to BBWs, transsexuals (I need a taco to go along with that attractive body; sorry), junkies, and those who I consider "grenades".  I guess that is one of the reasons why I can't be a gigolo.  I also don't want to be involved with someone who is cheating on her husband or boyfriend.  No strings attached, please. -I am for regulated forms of prostitution like Dennis Hof's brothel in Nevada and the red-light district in Ams

Some forgotten 90's alt-rock songs.

Pluto - "When She Was Happy" (1996) This band from Vancouver was nominated for a Juno Award for "Best New Band". BTK - "Peppyrock" (1996) Another Juno nominee, this Toronto act (a.k.a. Birth Through Knowledge) has a fun hip-hop/rock beat and a music video that parodies Sesame Street and the Electric Company. Pfil bryte - "Merry Go Round" (1996) What I found out about him is that he's based in San Francisco, is the grandson of Woody Woodpecker creator Walter Lantz, and has a music production company (http://www.pfilbryte.com/home/).  This song has a relaxed hip-hop feel and (like a few of his other songs) mentions Disneyland.  He also did a great cover of Blood Sweat & Tears' "Spinning Wheel". Reacharound - "Big Chair" (1996) There isn't anything I could find about this band, but they do hail from Southern California and were label mates with No Doubt and Bush. Update 6/2/20: I found some more infor
